Puffin on Farne Islands

Puffin (Fratercula arctica) on the Farne Islands off the Northumerland coastline in Spring Bank Holiday. This stocky seabird with a large head and large strongly compressed red and yellow striped bill comes onto these islands to breed, where it nests in burrows in dense colonies. It feeds on the sandeels.
